Een controle- of tempodeck zou er baat bij hebben om Oust in hun strategie op te nemen, omdat het een manier biedt om tijdelijk met een dreiging om te gaan en tegelijkertijd leven te winnen. Er zijn echter betere alternatieven, zoals Path to Exile of Condemn, die meer permanente verwijderingsopties of extra voordelen bieden. Oust zou spel kunnen zien in bepaalde situaties waarin de levenswinst relevant is of als een budgetoptie, maar het is misschien geen hoofdbestanddeel van competitieve decks.
