Pentavus zou een waardevolle toevoeging kunnen zijn aan een kaartspel dat zich richt op het genereren en gebruiken van +1/+1 counters, vooral in een strategie die profiteert van het genereren van tokens en het opofferen van wezens. In de meer competitieve Magic: the Gathering-formaten zijn er echter waarschijnlijk efficiëntere kaarten die vergelijkbare effecten bieden, zoals Hangarback Walker of Walking Ballista, die mogelijk meer gespeeld kunnen worden vanwege hun veelzijdigheid en impact op het bord.
