**Beschermende respons** (2W, Instant, Convoke, doel aanvallend of blokkerend wezen vernietigen) past het beste in witte decks met veel wezens die consequent het bord overspoelen, zoals token, Selesnya (GW) go-wide of agressieve white weenie-strategieën, omdat je met Convoke het goedkoop of zelfs ‘gratis’ kunt casten terwijl je mana open houdt voor ontwikkeling. Het speelt vooral goed in decks die in aantallen aanvallen, maar toch interactie willen zonder hun curve te vertragen. Of er gespeeld moet worden, hangt echter sterk af van het formaat: vergeleken met opties als **Zwaarden naar Ploegenscharen** (veel efficiënter), **Pad naar ballingschap**, **Verdwalen** of zelfs **Noodlottige afwezigheid**, is deze kaart restrictiever omdat deze alleen aanvallende of blokkerende wezens treft. Dat gezegd hebbende, in formaten waar Convoke-synergie van belang is (zoals token-zware standaardomgevingen of beperkt), kan het beter presteren dan flexibelere verwijdering omdat het in wezen zero-man

If a creature you control has a mana ability with {T} in the cost, activating that ability while casting a spell with convoke will result in the creature being tapped before you pay the spell's costs. You won't be able to tap it again for convoke. Similarly, if you sacrifice a creature to activate a mana ability while casting a spell with convoke, that creature won't be on the battlefield when you pay the spell's costs, so you won't be able to tap it for convoke.

Tapping an untapped creature that's attacking or blocking to convoke a spell won't cause that creature to stop attacking or blocking.

When calculating a spell's total cost, include any alternative costs, additional costs, or anything else that increases or reduces the cost to cast the spell. Convoke applies after the total cost is calculated. Convoke doesn't change a spell's mana cost or mana value.
