Een Army of the Damned-kaart zou nuttig zijn in een kaartspel dat zich richt op kerkhofrecursie en het genereren van tokens, vooral in een zwart-zwaar kaartspel met mana-ramp-mogelijkheden. Hoewel de kaart een substantieel leger zombies kan creëren, kunnen de hoge manakosten de efficiëntie ervan beperken in snellere formaten zoals Modern of Pioneer. Andere kaarten zoals Endless Ranks of the Dead of Liliana, Dreadhorde General kunnen een meer consistente waarde bieden in vergelijkbare strategieën, maar Army of the Damned kan nog steeds een krachtige late-game finisher zijn in Commander- of casual formaten.
