About Scute Swarm

A deck focused on land ramp and landfall triggers, such as a green ramp or landfall deck, would greatly benefit from including Scute Swarm. Its ability to generate an increasing number of insect tokens can quickly overwhelm opponents, especially if the player can reach the six-land threshold for creating additional copies of Scute Swarm. While there may be more powerful cards in certain situations, the synergy and potential for explosive token generation make Scute Swarm a strong contender for inclusion in decks that can take advantage of its abilities.

A landfall ability doesn’t trigger if a permanent already on the battlefield becomes a land.

If Scute Swarm leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the token will still enter the battlefield as a copy of Scute Swarm, using Scute Swarm’s copiable values from when it was last on the battlefield.
