About Snare Tactician

A deck focused on cycling cards, such as a cycling deck in Magic: The Gathering, would benefit from including Snare Tactician as it provides a way to tap down opponent's creatures consistently. While Snare Tactician is a good option for this strategy, a potentially better card to consider would be Archfiend of Ifnir, which not only taps down creatures but also has a more impactful effect when cycling cards. However, Snare Tactician could still see play in a cycling deck as a solid support card for controlling the opponent's board.

Some cards with cycling have an ability that triggers when you cycle them, and some cards have an ability that triggers whenever you cycle any card. These triggered abilities resolve before you draw from the cycling ability.

You can cycle a card even if it has a triggered ability from cycling that won’t have a legal target. This is because the cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. This also means that if either ability is countered (with Disallow, for example), the other ability will still resolve.
