On April 17th, on a Wizards of the Coast blog, the company confirmed there will be no MTG Arena Alchemy set for the latest expansion, March of the Machine. The news came one day before the official release, and it went by relatively unnoticed by fans until it hit the game's Subreddit a few days later.

The reason? The tight release schedule. Since there will be an extra "microset" on May 12th, as "March of the Machine: Aftermath" was described by early sources, and The Lord of the Rings set, coming later on June 23, Wizards of the Coast preferred to push back the Alchemy releases.
“Due to The Aftermath content coming about a month after March of the Machine, there will be no Alchemy set for March of the Machine. Instead, Alchemy efforts and excitement will continue to be focused on The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, which will be legal in Alchemy and Historic.”
- Official Statement
The March of the Machine: Aftermath set will supposedly include 50 cards that will give closure to the lore in March of the Machine, as the story progresses following the end of the battle between Phyrexia and numerous characters.
The tight release schedule has been a problem for WotC before, and fans have been reporting for a while now that when they're not celebrating a release, they're in spoilers season. Considering Hasbro, MTG's current CEO, has planned almost an expansion per month for 2023, it is understandable that some set pieces fall through the cracks, and Alchemy seems to be the newest victim of such a business plan.
However, players aren't that sad Alchemy won't be getting a release for this April/May set. Alchemy has long been a very problematic and polemic format, with some fans wishing it didn't exist at all. So, fans can rejoice: You'll have a break from Alchemy for two months, at least. It will unfortunately be back in time for Lord of the Rings.
