About Hellfire
Hellfire, Sorcery, designed by Pete Venters first released in May, 2020 in the set Legends and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 1067.90.
A deck that focuses on controlling the board by removing opponent's creatures and doesn't rely heavily on its own creatures would benefit from using Hellfire. However, there are better options like Damnation or Toxic Deluge which provide similar board wipe effects without dealing damage to you, making them more versatile and efficient choices. Hellfire could see play in specific strategies that can mitigate the self-damage or in casual formats for its unique flavor, but in competitive environments, other cards may be preferred for their overall effectiveness.
Rules
10/01/09
A token creature that’s destroyed is put into its owner’s graveyard, and will be counted by Hellfire’s effect. (Immediately after Hellfire finishes resolving, the token will cease to exist.)
10/01/09
Hellfire checks the number of creatures put into graveyards as the result of its effect, not the number of creatures destroyed as a result of its effect. For example, a replacement effect that says “If a creature would be put into a graveyard from the battlefield, exile it instead” won’t affect whether a creature is destroyed or not, but will affect whether it’s put into a graveyard or not.
