About Shifting Shadow

Shifting Shadow, Enchantment — aura, designed by Christopher Burdett first released in Nov, 2016 in the set Treasure Chest and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 5.74.

Shifting Shadow could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on quickly cycling through creatures and taking advantage of their enter-the-battlefield effects, such as a red aggro deck or a deck with a strong creature toolbox strategy. However, its downside of destroying the enchanted creature each upkeep can be a significant drawback. While it offers a unique and potentially powerful effect, there are better alternatives like Birthing Pod or Eldritch Evolution that provide more control and consistency in fetching creatures without the risk of losing them each turn, making Shifting Shadow less likely to see play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.

Rules

08/25/17

If the Shifting Shadow leaves the battlefield after the triggered ability it grants has triggered but before it resolves, you’ll destroy the creature it enchanted before it left the battlefield, then reveal cards and put a creature card onto the battlefield. Shifting Shadow won’t become attached to it. The same is true if the enchanted creature leaves the battlefield rather than just Shifting Shadow, except that you won’t destroy the creature it enchanted in that case.

08/25/17

If you don’t reveal a creature card this way, you’ll just reveal and randomize your library and Shifting Shadow becomes attached to nothing. It will be put into its owner’s graveyard as a state-based action.
