This Stromgald Spy card could be beneficial in a control or disruption deck that aims to gather information about the opponent's hand and disrupt their strategy. However, there are potentially better options such as Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, which provide more immediate and impactful hand disruption without the drawback of not dealing combat damage. While Stromgald Spy could be situationally useful in certain strategies, it may not see widespread play due to its limitations compared to other hand disruption options available in Magic: The Gathering.

An ability that triggers when something “attacks and isn’t blocked” triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it. It will trigger even if that creature was put onto the battlefield attacking rather than having been declared as an attacker in the declare attackers step.
