Fblthp, Impossibly Lost looks best in **blue evasive tempo / saboteur decks**: cheap fliers, unblockables, ninjas, token swarms, or Commander decks that reliably connect in combat and want a 2-mana “draw two, then tuck itself” value piece, with a cute upside in self-mill/empty-library builds because its trigger can win before you lose to drawing from an empty library; it is less good in control or combo shells that do not attack, and it is not a true engine because it shuffles away after the first successful trigger. For raw combat-card-draw, **Reconnaissance Mission**, **Coastal Piracy**, and **Bident of Thassa** are generally better in go-wide decks because they stay on board and can draw per connecting creature rather than once before disappearing; for “empty library wins,” **Thassa’s Oracle** is much better, with **Jace, Wielder of Mysteries** and **Laboratory Maniac** as more established backup options. Losing the game due to drawing from an empty library happens as a state-based action. At certain times (usually after each spell and ability resolves) the game checks to see if any state-based actions need to be performed, then does so. Since Fblthp's ability causes you to win the game while that ability is still resolving, this happens before those state-based actions would be checked and performed. Notably, drawing cards from an empty library at any other time while Fblthp is on the battlefield will still cause you to lose the game.
