Topiary Lecturer fits best in a green ramp or +1/+1 counter–focused Commander or casual midrange deck that can reliably cast increasingly expensive spells to grow it while also benefiting from a scalable mana dork; it’s especially at home in mono‑green or Selesnya builds that care about counters (e.g., with Hardened Scales–style effects) or that want creatures to tap for large amounts of mana in the mid‑to‑late game. However, at three mana it competes with very efficient ramp like **Llanowar Elves**, **Elvish Mystic**, **Circle of Dreams Druid**, **Gyre Sage**, **Incubation Druid**, and especially **Selvala, Heart of the Wilds**, which often generate more mana faster or more reliably; even **Marwyn, the Nurturer** in Elf decks typically scales better. Because Topiary Lecturer needs additional mana investment to grow before becoming impressive, it’s generally slower than top-tier options, so it’s unlikely to see competitive play but can be solid in casual or synergistic counter/ramp she
