About Vicious Rivalry
Vicious Rivalry, Sorcery, designed by Chris Rallis first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
**Vicious Rivalry** would fit best in a Golgari (B/G) midrange or control deck that can comfortably pay life as a resource—especially ones with strong life gain (e.g., *Sheoldred, the Apocalypse*, *Scavenging Ooze*, *The Meathook Massacre*) or that naturally pressure opponents into longer games. It’s particularly appealing in metas heavy on low-to-the-ground creature decks, artifact strategies, or token swarms, since you can set X to sweep early boards while preserving larger threats of your own. However, it competes with extremely efficient board wipes like *Toxic Deluge* (which is cheaper and more flexible), *Pernicious Deed* (repeatable and scalable), *Damnation*, or *Maelstrom Pulse* for broader answers; in most formats, *Toxic Deluge* would simply be better due to lower color commitment and efficiency. As a result, Vicious Rivalry would likely be playable in Commander—especially in life-gain or aristocrats shells—but would struggle to see competitive Modern or Pioneer play unless
