Let the explorations begin, but watch out for traps!
The Lost Caverns of Ixalan will be the fourth and final main set of MTG of 2023, coming out at the end of the year. We continue our visit to Ixalan, which returns us to a scenario full of dinosaurs, hidden treasures, adventures, traps and many wonders to discover.
Release date
As usual, we should expect the reveal of some cards weeks before their global release, as well as a pre-release in stores.

Both Arena players and paper players should get their new cards on November 17, 2023, the date of their global launch.
It's possible that Arena players will get the set after the pre-release but before its global release date.
Return of the Traps?
Just like in Zendikar, we can see that in this new set there are cards with the term "Trap"in their name, indicating that perhaps this mechanic will return.
Nothing is confirmed so far, but if this happens, we could see Ixalan being a spiritual successor to Zendikar. Traps are instant spells that can be used for their normal mana cost, but also have an alternative cost if specific events occur.
Typically, Traps have abilities that undo everything that made their alternative cost possible; for example, If an opponent had two or more creatures enter the battlefield under their control this turn, you may pay {U} rather than pay Whiplash Trap mana cost, to return two target creatures to their owners' hands.
Mark Rosewater, head designer of MTG, comments in his blog that he is very excited about the release of this set, but doesn't see a focus on creature tribes. He adds that Lost Caverns of Ixalan is not a traditional set return.
MagicCon Barcelona
In this event, we can see a little more about the arts in this set, featuring giant bat warriors, protective angels, dinosaurs and underground magical cores. With these images presented, we have the end of the Sol Immortal chapter.
