Desolate Mire would be beneficial in a deck that requires both white and black mana sources, such as an Orzhov (white-black) control or midrange deck in Magic: the Gathering. However, there are better dual lands available, such as Godless Shrine or Isolated Chapel, which enter the battlefield untapped and provide the same color fixing. Desolate Mire might see play in budget decks or in formats where other options are not available, but in most cases, more efficient lands would be preferred.
