Careful! These MOM Promotional Cards aren't Legal in Sealed play!

With the ever so close upcoming release of the March of the Machine set from April 14th to 21st, all sorts of teasers and promotional items have also been announced to hype up players! As one of the promotional items Wizards of the Coast is bringing, alongside the several short stories released last week and many other teasers, a new Promotional card will be included in every Prerelease kit.

But, be careful: These Promotional cards will not be legal to use in your Sealed Prerelease decks.

On a recent Good Morning Magic! Youtube video, Gavin Verhey, MTG designer, showcased the March of the Machine Prerelease kit, as he built a sample Sealed deck as he went through each card and item in the kit. This kit usually comes with six packs and additional promotional items, which eventually are built into a Sealed MTG deck. As most Prerelease events have players battling each other as they open up packs for a chance of getting even more packs, these Sealed decks are a big part of this step in the new set releases, and will be as important for March of the Machine.

The real fun of these events is getting to play with what you get in packs, kits and bundles immediately. As long as the card is printed correctly, players are incentivized to play with what they open.

The extra Promotional cards in the March of the Machine prerelease kits, however, though they are included as an extra product in every kit and therefore hoard a lot of value for consumers, are not valid in Sealed decks. Unlike the usual Prerelease promotional card, also included in the kit, which is a foil stamped Rare from the main set and is legal for Prerelease play, these extra Promotional cards included in every kit are not legal for Sealed play.

So, which cards are these?

One of the main concerns regarding these cards is that the fact that they aren't legal for Sealed play has not been properly communicated by Wizards of the Coast as well as fans and players would like. It is possible players go to Prerelease events, get their Prerelease kits and build whole decks around cards that are not going to be playable in such events. Even hosts and judges can not know about this detail, which is why communicating effectively is so important.

Make sure to spread the word about these cards' legality in Sealed decks, whenever you see fit, so that everyone involved in these events can have a good time going into the March of the Machine era.

> Traditional foil-stamped Prerelease Promos from the core set are legal for Sealed play.

Also, be careful with the new cards that can only be found in Collector Boosters.

You may be checking out a website with all cards from March of the Machines, but being part of the new set doesn't mean you can play with them in your sealed of draft championship. Since they can only be found in collector booster, they are not legal in draft or sealed. Even though they have the same symbol and even the same layout frame.

Those cards are: Essence of Orthodoxy, Seedpod Caretaker, Phyrexian Pegasus, Interdisciplinary Mascot, Referee Squad, Zephyr Winder, Terror of Towashi, Seer of Stolen Sight, Injector Crocodile, Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink, Axgard Artisan, Cragsmasher Yeti, Surrak and Goreclaw, Ruins Recluse, and Fairgrounds Trumpeter.
