Magic: The Gathering revealed, through an article on IGN, the first cards of its first expansion in partnership with Marvel: Marvel's Spider-Man. The new set, part of the Universes Beyond series, follows the launch of Final Fantasylink outside website, but with a total focus on Spider-Man characters and elements, including the main hero, villains, and characters from the vast comic book multiverse.

In addition to revealing some of the hero variants from the set, the first previews feature another return of double-faced cards, which were also present in Final Fantasy, as well as the new Web-Slinging mechanic, an alternative cost to cast creatures when returning a tapped creature you control to its owner's hand.

Marvel's Spider-Man is scheduled for release on September 28 and will be the second Magic: The Gathering crossover set in 2025. It will be legal in all formats and won't feature Commander decks.

Additionally, due to copyright issues, the set will not be available on Magic Arena. Instead, Wizards of the Coast has introduced the Through the Omenpaths project, which aims to create sets with cards identical to the paper set but with illustrations and names within the Magic: The Gathering universe.

New previews of Marvel's Spider-Man will take place next Friday, July 25, during San Diego Comic-Con, where Magic: The Gathering will hold a panel dedicated to the set.
