Pro Tour Final Fantasy: Izzet Prowess represents over 42% of the Metagame

Wizards of the Coast published this Thursday (19) the Metagame of the Pro Tour Final Fantasy, which takes place in Las Vegas, USA, between June 20th and 22nd.

According to the analysis conducted by Frank Karsten, Izzet Prowess' dominance is significant: the deck represents almost half of the competitive decks entered in the tournament, with 42.3%, and is proving to be the main force in the Metagame. Followed by Azorius Omniscience with 19.9% and Mono Red Aggro with 10.9%. Together, the three archetypes represent 73.1% of the event's decks.

Izzet Prowess has been the dominant deck in Standard since the release of Cori-Steel Cutter in Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and its numbers grew significantly in the week following the release of Final Fantasy: in one of the recent Challenges, the archetype represented 34% of the lists in the Top 32. With 42% in the Pro Tour Final Fantasy, it becomes the most dominant archetype in the Metagame of a tournament of this size since the return of the Pro Tour circuit in 2023.

In addition to the Metagame, Karsten also presents the most played cards of Final Fantasy at the event. With the high popularity of Izzet Prowess, Vivi Ornitier, which has become a staple, is by far the most played card in the set, with 374 copies, followed by Opera Love Song, commonly run in Mono Red Aggro and dual-color variants with 61 copies.

Dark Confidant and Cecil, Dark Knight redefine the way Midrange is played in Standard, which is reflected in the high number of copies of them in events, with 55 and 39, respectively. Starting Town, which also interacts with Cecil, is present in several aggressive three-color decks, totaling 42 copies.

Finally, Terra, Magical Adept is a new integral part of both Jund Roots, which utilize the graveyard for specific interactions and take advantage of Insidious Roots.

Another highlight of the event is the number of three-already known staples: Stock Up is the most played card in Pro Tour FF, present in 61% of decks, while Monstrous Rage appears in 56% of the lists, and Cori-Steel Cutter shows up in 43%.
