Commandeer zou een waardevolle toevoeging zijn aan een controledeck in Magic: the Gathering, vooral in formaten waarin niet-wezenlijke spreuken veel voorkomen. Hoewel het een krachtig effect heeft op het stelen van de spreuk van een tegenstander, kunnen de hoge manakosten de speelbaarheid ervan beperken. Andere opties zoals Counterspell of Force of Will zijn misschien efficiëntere keuzes voor controledecks, maar Commandeer zou nog steeds kunnen spelen in bepaalde metagames of sideboard-situaties waar zijn unieke vaardigheid een grote impact heeft.

You may change any of the targeted spell’s targets. If you change a target, you must choose a legal target for the spell. If you can’t, you must leave the target the same (even if that target is now illegal).
