Een controledeck gericht op het beschermen van belangrijke permanents of het trekken van kaarten tegen historische permanents die het slagveld verlaten, zou baat hebben bij Curator's Ward. Er zijn echter potentieel betere opties, zoals de voorganger van Curator's Ward, Protective Bubble, die vergelijkbare bescherming biedt tegen lagere kosten, of Teferi's Protection, die een veelzijdiger en krachtiger beschermend effect biedt. Curator's Ward zou spelen in specifieke kaartspellen met een historisch thema of als een budgetoptie kunnen zien, maar het nut ervan kan beperkt zijn in vergelijking met andere opties in de meeste competitieve scenario's.

A card, spell, or permanent is historic if it has the legendary supertype, the artifact card type, or the Saga subtype. Having two of those qualities doesn’t make an object more historic than another or provide an additional bonus—an object either is historic or it isn’t.

If Curator’s Ward is attached to a historic permanent you don’t control, you draw two cards when that permanent leaves the battlefield, not that permanent’s controller.
