Een kaartspel dat zich richt op rode en groene manabronnen, zoals een Gruul- of Jund-kaartspel, zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Rootbound Crag omdat het toegang biedt tot beide kleuren mana. Hoewel Rootbound Crag een solide optie voor twee landen is, zijn er betere alternatieven zoals Stomping Ground of Copperline Gorge die consistenter ongebruikt in het spel komen. Rootbound Crag kan echter nog steeds spel zien in budgetdecks of in decks die extra dubbele landen nodig hebben om hun manabasis te ondersteunen.
