Revealed the day of the next update on the Banned and Restricted list

Wizards of the Coast revealed when the next B&R announcement will occur: Next week!

"In one week from this message on March 9th, there will be a Banned & Restricted list update", posted Wizards of the Coast on the official Twitter account of Magic: The Gathering. "Mark your calendars! As previously announced, we plan to give advanced warning of any B&R updates going forward."

Last December, Wizards announced that there will be no more scheduled B&R updates for Magic, but it expects changes to occur at a similar pace. The last tweet about it confirms that they follow the original plan. Updates will always be announced on Mondays, allowing flexibility in the exact week of changes. "This will let us be more agile and responsive with changes when needed while respecting the needs and timelines of competitive events", explained Ian Duke, an employee at Wizards of the Coast.

The change will take place 1 week before MagicFest São Paulo, which can significantly impact the performance of players in this event. But which cards can possibly be banned or restricted? What to expect?

PIONEER

Dig Through Time is the basis of the Dimir Inverter deck on Pioneer. The deck has a high representation in the metagame and the card has already been banned in other formats.

MODERN

The format is stable, but Once Upon a Time does exactly what Wizards is looking to end up in the format: zero-cost magic. The card is strong and appears in dozens of maindecks in a high percentage of the metagame. A ban on the card would affect dozens of decks that have been extracting value from it, like Titan's new decks.

LEGACY

Underworld Breach is the basis of this new Legacy deck, reaching Tier 1 in a very short time.

PAUPER

Pauper is in a good situation, similar to Modern. The only card standing out at the moment is Mystic Santuary. A ban on it would diminish the presence of Delver's decks in the format.

STANDARD

Embercleave brings speed to red decks in a scary way. Hardly Wizards of the Coast will touch Standard, but if it does, I imagine this is the card.
