About Extract Power

Extract Power, Sorcery, designed by Ioannis Fiore first released in Jun, 2026 in the set Marvel Super Heroes Commander. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

Extract Power is a six-mana blue sorcery (5U) that fits best in slower, high-mana control or big-mana Commander decks that can afford a splashy, swingy effect and potentially leverage opponents’ powerful top-end cards—especially in multiplayer where you can hit several libraries at once—but it’s inconsistent because you only get the top card of each library and have no control over what you’ll hit unless you’re manipulating libraries beforehand. It pairs best with top-deck manipulation (like Lantern effects or cards that let you scry opponents’ libraries), but even then it’s fairly random and doesn’t affect the board immediately, making it weak in competitive formats. In most cases there are stronger and more reliable alternatives such as Praetor’s Grasp (which lets you search an opponent’s library for exactly what you want), Bribery (which steals the best creature directly from their deck), or even Mnemonic Deluge and similar high-impact blue spells that generate immediate value.
