About Formation
Formation, Instant, designed by Ken Meyer, Jr. first released in May, 2020 in the set Ice Age. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.79.
This card would be beneficial in a white weenie or aggro deck that focuses on attacking with multiple creatures, as banding allows for strategic combat interactions. However, there are likely better cards that provide more impactful effects for a similar mana cost, such as Brave the Elements or Path to Exile, making Formation less likely to see play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.
Rules
10/01/08
Creatures in the same band must all attack the same player or planeswalker.
10/01/08
If a creature with banding attacks, it can team up with any number of other attacking creatures with banding (and up to one nonbanding creature) and attack as a unit called a “band.” The band can be blocked by any creature that could block a single creature in the band. Blocking any creature in a band blocks the entire band. If a creature with banding is blocked, the attacking player chooses how the blockers’ damage is assigned.
