About Jeskai Elder
Jeskai Elder, Creature — human monk, designed by Craig J Spearing first released in Sep, 2014 in the set Duel Decks: Speed vs. Cunning and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.35.
Jeskai Elder would be a great addition to a tempo or control deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it provides card advantage and benefits from casting noncreature spells. However, a better alternative could be Monastery Swiftspear, which has a similar ability but with haste, making it more aggressive. Jeskai Elder could see play in decks looking to generate card advantage while maintaining a board presence, but its effectiveness would depend on the overall strategy and synergy of the deck.
Rules
09/20/14
Any spell you cast that doesn’t have the type creature will cause prowess to trigger. If a spell has multiple types, and one of those types is creature (such as an artifact creature), casting it won’t cause prowess to trigger. Playing a land also won’t cause prowess to trigger.
09/20/14
Once it triggers, prowess isn’t connected to the spell that caused it to trigger. If that spell is countered, prowess will still resolve.
