Mondo Gecko, Legendary creature — lizard mutant, designed by Maël Ollivier-Henry first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Mondo Gecko would fit best in a blue-based multicolor “rainbow” or five-color goodstuff Commander deck that consistently controls permanents of many different colors (e.g., with multicolored creatures, enchantments, or mana-fixing permanents like Chromatic Lantern) to maximize its combat-damage trigger, ideally alongside evasion support (Whispersilk Cloak, Rogue’s Passage) to ensure it connects; it could also slot into a Simic or Jeskai tempo shell that can protect it and leverage repeated card draw. However, at 1UU for a creature that requires combat damage and setup to generate real advantage, it’s fairly slow and conditional compared to stronger options like Edric, Spymaster of Trest (which draws cards off multiple attackers without needing multicolor setup), Toski, Bearer of Secrets (harder to remove and guarantees attack triggers), or even Cold-Eyed Selkie (which can draw multiple cards more reliably with pump or evasion), making those generally better and more consistent choices.
