Introduction

Now that Magic: the Gathering has returned to Lorwyn, we will surely meet some incredibly classic characters again. In this article, we'll show you two lists for the new Brigid, Clachan's Heart!

The first one is quite classic, as it is a token Selesnya Magic Symbol g Magic Symbol w list that benefits from the mana created by Brigid's main side. The second one is a Kithkins party.

Let's see them!

Commander: Brigid, Clachan's Heart (Brigid, Doun's Mind)

In the past, this iconic Kithkin showed up as Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile and protected her clan from many threats. Brigid also lived many adventures alongside many other iconic Lorwyn characters, such as Maralen, Ashling, Rhys, and Sygg.

Lorwyn Eclipsed gave us Brigid as a green Magic Symbol g Selesnya Kithkin that is perfect for token decks.

When she comes into play, or you turn her to her main side, Brigid, Clachan's Heart, she creates a 1/1 Kithkin creature.

Her other side, Brigid, Doun's Mind, creates green or white mana according to the number of other creatures you control. This ability is really similar to cards like Gaea's Cradle, Growing Rites of Itlimoc, and Circle of Dreams Druid.

Main List

We wanted to create a lot of mana with our commander in our first list so that we can play our spells, create tokens, and buff our small army.

As creatures that create tokens are the heart of this list, let's start with them.

Creating Tokens

Thanks to the mana Brigid creates, we are free to add to this list cards that cost X mana, like March of the Multitudes, Jacked Rabbit, Grand Crescendo, Pest Infestation, Springleaf Parade, and Secure the Wastes.

Besides these cards, we added some cards that create tokens but don't rely on X mana and are very popular in this archetype.

Queen Allenal of Ruadach fits any token deck like this really well. It gives us an extra 1/1 Soldier when we create creature tokens. The same goes for Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, which creates a 1/1 Human for each opponent we're attacking.

Overall, this deck plays lots of spells that don't cost a lot of mana as well as a lot of ramp, so we won't have any trouble triggering Cosmogrand Zenith. This card can either create tokens or buff our creatures.

As cool as having Dinosaurs in play is, this list plays Ghalta and Mavren because of its second ability, which creates several 1/1 Vampires with lifelink when we attack.

Halo Fountain is both a way to create tokens and to draw cards. It is also an alternative win condition in this list. So, if our attacks aren't affecting our opponents, we can just untap 15 creatures we control and win.

Creating Even More Tokens

As this list's main strategy is attacking with an army of tokens, cards that give us more tokens whenever we create some are welcome. They'll speed up the game or make sure we always have some creatures to defend ourselves.

This deck might not lean into counters, but Doubling Season's ability, which doubles them, is essential. Besides this card, we must also highlight Elspeth, Storm Slayer, which plays many roles, including creating tokens, buffing cards, and destroying enemy creatures.

Buffs

Once we have a full board and Brigid, Clachan's Heart is creating a lot of mana, we want to attack with our creatures and make them as big as possible. So, we need a few buffs.

We'll cast Moonshaker Cavalry and Craterhoof Behemoth to end the game. We'll do the same with Akroma's Will, but we can also use it defensively.

Speaking of attacking, Champion of Lambholt doesn't buff anything, but it gives other cards a powerful type of evasion that will be quite helpful when we attack with our tokens.

Card Draw

Card draw is a critical part of any Commander deck. These cards give us a huge advantage and might even make sure we stay ahead of our opponents in resources.

As we play several buffs, Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar is perfect. It will draw cards whenever we deal combat damage with creatures we buffed. It will also prevent our opponents from casting spells during our turn.

Alternative List

Our alternative list uses both sides of our commander a bit more. With it, we can use her to get more mana or tokens, whatever we need at that moment.

This list centers around Kithkins and their many effects. Resplendent Mentor, for instance, gives us life, Thoughtweft Lieutenant buffs our cards, and Kithkin Harbinger tutors.

Finally, this list also plays Shapeshifters like Chomping Changeling, which also works as removal, and Mirror Entity, which buffs our creatures.

Besides creatures, we also added spells that came out in Lorwyn sets. As such, this deck is pretty in theme with this plane.

Final Words

Considering right now the main complaint from players is power creep and creatures that are more and more complicated, Brigid, Clachan's Heart is a relief. She reminds us of how simple Commander can be.

Brigid is very friendly if you have just started playing Commander. You can build lists around her with multiple budgets as well, so she's very versatile.

For experienced players, Brigid can be a bit more casual. She could be the star of your pod if your friends enjoy precons, for instance. She will work in most decks you build for her.
