Edge of Eternitieslink outside website is coming. Although we're already in full swing with previews and spoilers for Marvel's Spider-Man, the current set, released on August 1st, is the space opera expansion for Magic: The Gathering, which brings the long-awaited Standard rotation and a dozen new additions to the format.

In addition to some established archetypes that should remain relevant in the new season, both due to additions from the new set and the number of good cards remaining in Standard, there are also some archetypes that are enabled and/or bolstered by the set. In this article, we present five lists with cards from Edge of Eternities.

Five Standard Decklists with Edge of Eternities

Mono Black Aggro

Edge of Eternities features two cheap, aggressive drops with Timeline Culler and Sunset Saboteur, along with cards we already have that are still in the format, like Cecil, Dark Knight, Dark Confidant, and the combination of two-power one-drops between Gas Guzzler and Forsaken Miner.

Our plan is the classic Aggro beatdown in this list: we cast cheap creatures, keep the board clear with Tragic Trajectory and Shoot the Sheriff, press the clock, and maintain resource parity with Dark Confidant.

Another highlight is Archenemy's Charm, which has multiple relevant functions: recursion against removal, unconditional interaction, and also guarantees a mix of pump and life gain, which will be necessary in Aggro mirrors and/or if the opponent has ease in dealing with Cecil, Dark Knight at the right time.

Mono Green Aggro

Mono Green Landfall is already a popular deck in Standard, but the new set offers Frenzied Baloth and Edge Rover as cheap aggressive drops that allow for a less conditional archetype, but perhaps with less explosive potential as well.

Instead of focusing on interactions with lands, our creatures mostly have some individual quality that punishes the opponent for interacting with us or interacts with their creatures and/or artifacts and enchantments. Additionally, since we have many four-power cards, we use Herd Heirloom as a card advantage outlet.

We also have the Royal Treatment and Overprotect package for protection, as well as the new Meltstrider's Resolve, which, while not increasing the creature's power, offers a way to punish blocking while making them more resilient to trades in combat.

Azorius Artifacts

If there's a way for the new Spacecrafts to work, they probably start with cards that have a low activation cost: Synthesizer Labship and Lumen-Class Frigate interact with each other and are also easily enabled in a list with Novice Inspector and Spyglass Siren, while turning their tokens into creatures and/or increasing their power.

As usual, we use Warden of the Inner Sky and Regal Bunnicorn to interact with the creatures that put tokens into play, and also Zoetic Glyph as another way to animate our artifacts and attack with them.

Sheltered by Ghosts is now complemented by Hardlight Containment as a board control that also increases the number of permanents in play, further improving Regal Bunnicorn and its ability to crew Spacecrafts.

Orzhov Sacrifice

Orzhov Sacrifice has been trying to find a place in Standard since Foundations and gains new tools with each release. Now we no longer need Bartolomé Del Presídio as the only source of unconditional sacrifice as we gain Umbral Collar Zealot, which, besides having a decent body, also interacts with Raise the Past.

Sothera, the Supervoid is, however, the card that deserves the most attention on the list. It basically functions as a Grave Pact that exiles creatures instead of destroying them, and like Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER, it also interacts with Voice of Victory, making the opponent sacrifice/exile two creatures at the end of the turn with the Mobilize ability—and to further capitalize on this potential, we run Dalkovan Encampment to create more tokens in combat.

It's worth remembering that Umbral Collar Zealot can activate its ability at instant speed. If we attack with Voice of Victory and create the tokens, we can retain priority, sacrificing them before the blockers step to exile two of our opponent's creatures.

Selesnya Lifegain Counters

Standard will always have some Red Aggro variant, and every version of it eventually brings with it a Lifegain deck as a response. This time, we're betting on combining the interaction of Hinterland Sanctifier and Ajani's Pridemate with the +1/+1 counter theme with Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam to put more creatures into play and draw more cards.

The interactions are essentially based on always having a way to keep our resources flowing: in addition to Dyadrine—whose combat trigger places tokens that will trigger all life gain instances and any additional +1/+1 counters—we have the new Haliya, Guided by Light that easily becomes a source of card advantage in this list, as well as Exemplar of Light, which interacts with both sides of the archetype.

For protection and resilience, we have Case of the Uneaten Feast to reuse creatures from the graveyard, as well as Zack Fair and Sheltered by Ghosts, all of which also interact with our main strategy.
