Crooked Scales kunnen nuttig zijn in een kaartspel dat zich richt op strategieën met een hoog risico en hoge beloningen, of in een kaartspel dat het opgooien van munten in zijn voordeel kan manipuleren. De onvoorspelbaarheid van de kaart kan hem echter minder betrouwbaar maken in competitief spel vergeleken met meer consistente verwijderingsopties zoals Swords to Plowshares of Path to Exile, die in de meeste situaties over het algemeen als betere keuzes voor verwijdering worden beschouwd. Crooked Scales zou kunnen worden gespeeld in casual of themadecks vanwege de unieke en leuke gameplay-mechanica.
