Stortbui zou nuttig zijn in een controledeck dat zich richt op het neerhalen van wezens van de tegenstander om te voorkomen dat ze effectief aanvallen of blokkeren. Hoewel het in bepaalde situaties nuttig kan zijn, zijn er betere kaarten zoals Sleep of Frost Breath die meer veelzijdigheid of effectiviteit bieden voor vergelijkbare kosten. Downpour wordt mogelijk niet veel gespeeld in competitieve decks vanwege de beperkte impact ervan in vergelijking met andere beschikbare opties.
