Ice Floe zou nuttig kunnen zijn in een controledek dat tot doel heeft agressieve, op wezens gebaseerde strategieën te blokkeren door belangrijke bedreigingen af te tappen. Er zijn echter efficiëntere opties zoals Maze of Ith of Glacial Chasm die vergelijkbare effecten bieden zonder het nadeel dat je niet onttapt tijdens je untap-stap. Ice Floe ziet mogelijk niet veel spel in competitieve decks vanwege de beperkingen in vergelijking met andere beschikbare opties.

Ice Floe doesn’t track the creature’s controller. If the affected creature changes controllers, Ice Floe will prevent it from being untapped during its new controller’s untap step.

If the ability resolves, then the creature gains flying later, Ice Floe’s effect will not end. (The ability checks whether the creature has flying only at the time you activate it and the time it resolves.)
