About Devouring Light
Devouring Light, Instant, designed by Pete Venters first released in Oct, 2005 in the set Ravnica: City of Guilds and was printed exactly in 9 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.04.
A deck that focuses on controlling the battlefield and disrupting the opponent's combat strategy would benefit from including Devouring Light. Its ability to exile an attacking or blocking creature can be a powerful removal tool, especially when combined with the convoke mechanic to potentially cast it for less mana. While there may be other removal spells with different advantages, such as instant speed or additional effects, Devouring Light could still see play in decks looking for efficient creature removal in a white-based strategy.

If a creature you control has a mana ability with in the cost, activating that ability while casting a spell with convoke will result in the creature being tapped before you pay the spell’s costs. You won’t be able to tap it again for convoke. Similarly, if you sacrifice a creature to activate a mana ability while casting a spell with convoke, that creature won’t be on the battlefield when you pay the spell’s costs, so you won’t be able to tap it for convoke.

You can tap any untapped creature you control to convoke a spell, even one you haven’t controlled continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn.
