Spawning Pool, Land, designed by Rob Alexander first released in Feb, 1999 in the set Urza's Legacy and was printed exactly in 5 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.35.
This card can be beneficial in a black-based aggro or midrange deck looking for additional creature threats while still having access to mana acceleration. While Spawning Pool provides versatility by turning into a creature, there are potentially better options like Mutavault or Creeping Tar Pit that offer more consistent creature presence or utility. Whether Spawning Pool sees play would depend on the specific strategy and synergy within the deck, as it can provide surprise blockers or attackers in certain situations.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
