Strategy

The Ayara, Widow of the Realm // Ayara, Furnace Queen deck in Commander is focused on sacrificing creatures for value, draining your opponents' life totals, and generating card advantage. Ayara herself is a powerful engine in the deck, triggering whenever a black creature you control dies and allowing you to drain your opponents for each creature you sacrifice. Key cards like Midnight Reaper, Blood Artist, and Zulaport Cutthroat provide additional triggers and drains, while cards like Price of Loyalty and Furnace Reins allow you to steal your opponents' creatures and sacrifice them for value. Chainer, Nightmare Adept and Feldon of the Third Path provide recursion for your creatures, allowing you to reuse powerful abilities and trigger Ayara multiple times. Sol Ring, Command Tower, and Commander's Sphere help you ramp into your commander and other powerful cards quickly. One good point of the deck is its ability to generate incremental advantage by sacrificing creatures and draining your opponents, slowly wearing them down over the course of the game. The deck can also create explosive turns with cards like Price of Loyalty and Furnace Reins, stealing and sacrificing multiple creatures at once. However, one potential downside of the deck is its reliance on having a critical mass of creatures to sacrifice. If your board is constantly wiped or you're unable to generate enough creatures, the deck may struggle to function effectively. Additionally, the deck may face challenges against graveyard hate and exile effects, which can disrupt your recursion and sacrifice strategies.
