I never imagined we'd reach a point where we're evaluating the competitive potential of a slice of pizza or a skateboard. But here we are.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the first Universes Beyond expansion for Magic: The Gathering this year—the first of four in 2026—and it brings all the story and iconic moments of Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael to the card game.
The set is barely relevant for Timeless. Most cards have no chance of reaching the competitive chain at the peak of Magic Arena's power level, and most of the set's special slots were filled with reprints of cards already on the digital platform. There are some important pieces, especially for Affinity, and even a potential staple in the right Metagame. However, it wouldn't be surprising if, one month after release, the set has no competitive presence in the Metagame.
The Best Cards from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Timeless
8 - Sewer-veillance Cam

There isn't enough potential for Sewer-veillance Cam in Timeless today, but there might come a time when Goblin Welder arrives on Magic Arena. When that happens, the artifact turns into a major combo piece — it made the list solely for its long-term potential.
7 - Jennika's Technique

A Pyroclasm for that lets you reuse ETBs could have some uses as a sideboard card against go-wide strategies, like Energy lists. However, it's not like those strategies are easy to allow an unimpeded attack to pay the Sneak cost.
6 - Arcbound Ravager

Once one of the most troublesome cards in Magic's past, Arcbound Ravager has become a relic of power creep. Some Affinity lists might emerge aiming to restore the classic variant of the archetype, or through combos with Weapons Manufactory and Ravager's sacrifice ability, but for practical purposes, this version seems far less powerful than the more recent versions and requires much more setup vulnerable to cards like Meltdown.
5 - Krang, Master Mind

Krang, Master Mind is another of the three TMNT additions for Affinity. His ability interacts with variants that can dump their hand quickly and helps complement Thoughtcast and Thought Monitor to maintain a steady flow of cards in hand.
The cost could be an issue, but a creature coming with a built-in Cranial Plating in an environment where the original artifact lands are legal deserves some testing.
4 - Ravenous Robots

One reason the interaction between Arcbound Ravager and Weapons Manufactory doesn't impress in Timeless is that Affinity is already a scarce archetype in the competitive scene, and when it does show up, it's usually in the Pinnacle Emissary and Kappa Cannoneer combination. In these cases, Ravenous Robots seems like a much more reliable backup than the enchantment from Edge of Eternities. Could help boost the archetype's consistency and, who knows, expand its room in the Metagame.
3 - Tokka & Rahzar, Terrible Twos

Timeless has enough free spells and archetypes with cost reducers for Tokka & Rahzar, Terrible Twos to stand out as a sideboard option, maybe even maindeck in a list like Red Stompy/Black Stompy, since it punishes Evoke costs, gets around Counterspells, and still has a decent body even for non-Stompy lists running Lurrus of the Dream-Den.
2 - Food Chain

According to the official Wizards of the Coast website, the Pizza Bundle promos will be available on Magic Arena — Food Chain among them.
Between Squee, the Immortal and Eternal Scourge, there are enough ways to build a list capable of generating infinite mana with the new enchantment. The question is knowing where to channel all that effort of running very bad cards to pull off a good combo. Still, of all the new additions from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Food Chain is the only one capable of establishing a new archetype with enough historical pedigree to have some competitive chance at the peak of Magic Arena's power level.
1 - Super Shredder

Super Shredder benefits too much from the Timeless' overall environment not to be the best card in the set. Between Fetch Lands, Mishra's Bauble, Evokes, and other effects, he can grow out of control quickly.
We saw Moonshadow put up results in Modern and Legacy for some time, and perhaps a creature that grows so rapidly in a format that also includes Strip Mine — which gives him +2/+2 instantly — might be precisely what we need for a new efficient two-drop in the eternal formats.
