Introduction

Rakdos Lizards has been popping up in this Standard season whenever it gets new support (and has become quite infamous for that). It gets a few wins and then disappears once players adapt to it or the meta becomes too hostile. Bloomburrow will not rotate out of the format until early 2027, but Reality Fracture brought several new additions that actually make this strategy stronger and give it another chance in the competitive meta!

The Decklist

These 1-drops enable most of the synergies in this deck and set up your following turns. Hired Claw deals damage to the opponent whenever one or more Lizards attack, and its activated ability keeps it relevant as the game progresses. Iridescent Vinelasher turns the lands you play that turn into damage, and, as a bonus, you can create a copy of it in the midgame so that each land deals a Shock to the opponent.

You'll sequence your enablers with cards that reward you for dealing damage to the opponent.

Flamecache Gecko partially becomes a free spell and lets you play another threat in the same turn. Fireglass Mentor turns noncombat damage into card advantage. Master of Barbs takes advantage of the "go-wide" plan to buff the entire board and was the best addition from Reality Fractures to this archetype.

These two key legends will enable your payoffs and also reward the overall strategy.

Gev, Scaled Scorch enables your other Lizards and buffs the ones you cast while it is on the battlefield. The new Ingris Stingerquill, while not a Lizard, has a combat ability that can snowball on a wide board alongside Master of Barbs.

After nearly a decade away from Standard, Chandra, Torch of Defiance has returned to the format and fits perfectly into this game plan, as well as make it quite versatile. She provides card advantage. If you do not want to use what you reveal, she deals the damage you need to trigger your cards, activates Ingris's ability, and can also remove medium-sized creatures such as Icetill Explorer.

Laughing Jasper Flint uses the type of creatures on your side of the board to steal cards from the opponent and allow you to cast them. You can replace it with Valley Flamecaller if you would rather keep your damage synergies and give up some gas.

Burst Lightning keeps other Aggro decks in check early on, enables your creatures, and can also close longer games with Kicker. Stingerquill Charm works like a Lightning Strike on steroids. It lets you turn one of your creatures into removal for larger threats or create a token to attack with.

Against Spellementals, Control, and Jeskai/Boros Artifacts, the Duress and Magebane Lizard combo slows down the opponent and puts pressure on their life points at the same time, and it is great at that. Magebane is also efficient against Prowess and punishes them when they try to put a lot of pressure on you at once.

Strategic Betrayal fixes some of the problems you'll have against Spellementals and it's also useful against Reanimator, Dimir Excruciator, and some Midrange decks that play a few key threats, most commonly in Golgari colors.

Requiting Hex complements your removals, coming in against Prowess, Mardu Discard, Landfall, Dwarves, and Lifegain, as well as in the mirror. Bitter Triumph answers larger creatures and Planeswalkers, which is critical against Dimir Midrange, Boros Dragons, Landfall, and Spellementals.
