A good portion of the vast product line for Marvel Super Heroes is coming to Magic Arena. Beyond the cards from set boosters, the JumpStart cards will be available for crafting, along with the commanders from the preconstructed decks. For Timeless, however, the set brings little excitement. The format's power level rose even higher with Secrets of Strixhaven, and the following set simply did not keep up in terms of reprints or targeted additions. One card or another might show up in a list. Doomsday is possibly the best option to create a new archetype, but overall, the expansion falls well below the average for the peak power level of Magic Arena.Hammer Time gained two new tools, but it still lacks Urza's Saga before it can compete in Timeless.Super-Soldier Serum fills a slot that, in Modern, belongs to Battlefield Improvisation, which is not available on Magic Arena. It has the advantage of attaching two Hammers at once.Steelshaper's Gift adds a bit more consistency in finding Colossus Hammer and other equipment. Without Saga, it is a cheap complement alongside Stoneforge Mystic.Kid Loki interacts well with Psychic Frog, Brainstorm, and Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student, but he loses out to Deathrite Shaman and likely to Hydroponics Architect. He may be worth a few test slots, but expectations should remain low.The ability on Loki, God of Mischief would be perfect for a format like Timeless, but Orcish Bowmasters is too present in the Metagame to give room to an X/1 creature that draws cards as its main payoff.Between Force of Will, Flare of Denial, and Force of Negation, there are enough free spells with multiple blue pips to consider Namor, the Sub-Mariner as a possible payoff for Merfolk, now that they have received Lord of Atlantis. Still, the deck will likely struggle to establish itself without Aether Vial.Doomsday was once the centerpiece of one of Legacy's most complex archetypes, but it has been streamlined since the printing of Thassa's Oracle. Timeless lacks key pieces of the Legacy combo, such as Street Wraith and Meditate. Still, we have some options, such as building a pile with five different names and using Tainted Pact to find Thassa's Oracle, or falling back on the older version of the combo with Shelldock Isle and Emrakul, the Aeons' Torn.Rancor is not the most exciting card for Timeless, but it is a welcome reprint. Who knows, it might appear in the format if Blighted Agent and Glistener Elf are added to Magic Arena in a future expansion or Anthology.Wrapping UpThat's all for today! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment! Thanks for reading!
