Bloomburrow spoiler season has finally come to an end. Bringing a world full of small creatures, Magic's new expansion features a lighter tone, inspired by classic animations from the 80s and 90s.
The set, however, is full of new and old mechanics and bold proposals for creature types and abilities, and in this article, we present its ten best cards for Magic Arena's Timeless format, including cards from the Special Guests and Imagine Critters!
The 10 Best Bloomburrow Cards for Timeless

10 - Frogmite
Coming as a mythic-rare through Special Guests, Frogmite helps Affinity have a little more consistency, but it shouldn't have much of an impact on the Metagame given how much its deck has failed to find space in competitive Timeless. Still, it's an upgrade to the archetype and another step towards making it viable.
9 - Dawn’s Truce
Half Surge of Salvation and half Teferi's Protection, Dawn's Truce allows protecting permanents and combos from removals, yourself from combos and other types of interactions for a lower cost than the most comprehensive card, but also greater than Surge of Salvation.
It may deserve space on the Sideboards, but it doesn't, on its own, do anything that Timeless doesn't already have.
8 - Beza, the Bounding Spring
Beza, the Bounding Spring is Bloomburrow's most versatile card, it is not efficient in the same way in any matchup, but it maintains its usefulness in all games. Its cost is a little high and will probably take away part of its space in Timeless to the point that it may not even see play in the format, but its power level and scope are high enough to deserve a place in the Top 10.
7 - Birds of Paradise
Birds of Paradise adds redundancy to Timeless' wide range of mana dorks, which currently includes Deathrite Shaman, Delighted Halfling and Gilded Goose, which it can replace due to its consistency in generating mana at the expense of dying for Orcish Bowmasters.
It's not an instant staple and shouldn't make much of an impact today, but the original mana dork is a good addition to the Metagame and could find more space as the format develops.
6 - Keen-Eyed Curator
Keen-Eyed Curator will compete with Scavenging Ooze for the graveyard hate slot in most green decks that can pick it up with Chord of Calling or another efficient tutor. The fact that it needs colorless mana can be useful in archetypes that require access to other colors, but are predominantly green, such as Titan Field and Golgari Yawgmoth, and its ability can give it space in Domain Zoo to amplify the clock.
5 - Baleful Strix
Baleful Strix would easily be a Bloomburrow Top 1 card if it weren't for the fact that Timeless is an Orcish Bowmasters format. As happened to it in Legacy and Ice-Fang Coatl in Modern, it is likely that the presence of the greatest anti-cantrip card in Magic history will take away much of its competitive viability because it generates too positive value for the opponent.
Still, archetypes like Dimir Tempo with Nethergoyf can benefit a lot from the card, and it's a great blocker against any archetype that doesn't play Orcish Bowmasters

4 - Sunspine Lynx
Sunspine Lynx offers, for a slightly high cost, efficient hate against The One Ring while also punishing decks with a lot of non-basic lands if their list is more aggressive. Archetypes like the Lurrus of the Dream-Den-less versions of Boros Energy or Domain Zoo can benefit from it in the Sideboard and punish the recurrence of Timeless' greedy mana bases.
3 - Into the Flood Maw
Into the Flood Maw is a simple effect which usually ends up becoming a Sideboard staple. For one mana, it deals with any threat, combo, hate piece, or key card at instant-speed and for a very low cost, offering answers to permanents like Deafening Silence, Pithing Needle, Rest in Peace, High Noon and others for a very low cost in addition to disrupting combos like Omniscience with ease.
Its cost is easy to achieve even in multicolored lists, the token it offers to the opponent will hardly be as bad as the permanent that left the game, and its coverage will make it worthy of testing on Timeless.
2 - Jace, the Mind Sculptor
It's funny to think that Jace, the Mind Sculptor, once considered the strongest Planeswalker of all time, might just not have a place in Timeless because it's competing with The One Ring in the four-mana slot and has a close race with Teferi, Hero of Dominaria in the format's Azorius and Jeskai Control lists.
However, Jace's power level is well known, and even if he doesn't find a home in the versions of Control, it's possible that Dimir or even Izzet lists will be interested in the Planeswalker due to its combination of abilities in a format with Fetch Lands.
1 - Sylvan Tutor
Green decks already have powerful tutors with Chord of Calling, Archdruid's Charm and even Natural Order to cheat on mana costs, and now, Sylvan Tutor joins this wide range to search for any creature for just one mana.
Being a sorcery can hinder its viability because we can't play it in the same way we would use Worldly Tutor or any other Instant-Speed effect of the cycle. However, one mana is a very low cost to have access to a wide toolbox of creatures of any color, with no cost restrictions, and any archetype with creature-based combos and/or that wants to take advantage of more of the famous “hatebears” can take advantage of this spell in some way.
Like all of Bloomburrow's other cards, Sylvan Tutor doesn't have a specific home at the moment, but its power level is very high, and it won't be surprising if it leverages an archetype in the coming months.
Conclusion
That's all for today!
