Introduction“They can’t hit what they can’t see.”- Invisible Woman, Sue Storm.Do you think you would be able to fight crime with your family? In their own way, the Fantastic Four manage to do that. They have turned the superhero life into a family business. This group of superheroes, affectionately nicknamed "Marvel's First Family", got the chance to shine in the last MTG set, Marvel Super Heroes. The precon The Fantastic Four brought this comic book universe directly to Commander matches. In this article, we'll mess around with this precon a bit. We'll show you how you can upgrade it (with the Invisible Woman as your commander) and also present an alternative list with Human Torch as the commander.Without further ado, let's meet the Invisible Woman and the other legendary cards that can star in your command zone in this precon.Commander: Invisible Woman“Through the years, I've beaten every one of them. Over and over. Badly. So you tell me... do you think I should be afraid of them... or should they be afraid of me?”- Invisible Woman, Sue Storm. When you first look at this list, you'll instantly notice something very curious: it plays many commander options.Even if you don't take into account Crystal, Inhuman Princess and Power Pack, there are still four other characters in this list that make for great commanders.Dr. Sue Storm is the Invisible Woman, a powerful hero that can manipulate light and make herself and other objects invisible. She can also create protective force fields. In MTG, these fields are represented by the 0/3 tokens called Walls that this card creates. The man who in many universes and comic book stories is considered the smartest man of all, Dr. Reed Richards, is Mister Fantastic, a creature that draws cards and creates value by copying your triggered abilities.Known for his catchphrase, "It's Clobberin' Time!", the astronaut Ben Grimm is The Thing, a powerful hero that buffs himself with counters and buffs other creatures by doubling their power. Finally, we have the adventurous Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, who can manipulate fire, fly, and engulf his entire body in flames. Unlike the other members of the group, his effect is a bit more selfish. It only gives him several keywords at the beginning of combat. As for his other ability, it is quite similar to Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar. It spreads the damage you deal throughout the entire pod to every single player.Regardless of which commander you play, one thing is certain: you'll have a lot of fun with this deck.In this case, we'll focus on Invisible Woman. Besides creating Walls, this hero has a valuable activated ability. It buffs a target creature according to each creature you control and makes it unblockable.Original ListThis is what you get when you take this deck out of the box:TokensTo Sue, the more allies fighting alongside her, the better. However, the original list doesn't play many cards that individually allow you to create tokens. Like so, you have to rely on her ability at the beginning of combat. In the games we got Namor, Atlantean King, he truly wreaked havoc on the board with his Merfolk. The controversial The Fantasticar has been the subject matter of many articles of ours, particularly those discussing bans (like this one.)When you cast your fourth non-creature spell each turn, you may sacrifice the car to create four 4/4 Construct tokens with Flying and Haste.Cards We AddedYour commander will already create tokens passively. So, instead of adding cards that will only "create" more tokens and not do anything else, we'll add cards that buff the tokens you get from Sue.This deck doesn't center around creatures, but the more of them you have, the more powerful Sue's buff is, and the more powerful the creature you use it on is.We added two creatures, Mondrak, Glory Dominus and Adrix and Nev, Twincasters because they're truly quite powerful. We also added a few non-creature spells, like Caretaker's Talent, Parallel Lives, and Second Harvest to "balance" these tokens and create them consistently. Like so, Sue will create them at the beginning of combat, guaranteed.Cards We RemovedTo add these cards, we removed the following:Unfortunately, Silver Surfer, Galactus's Herald and Galactus, Devourer of Worlds couldn't stay, but they're still incredibly strong cards. We simply focused on optimizing the token mechanic so that you can buff them properly with Sue and set up a smaller mana curve for this deck, as these two cards are quite heavy.RecursionIf you can believe it, the original list comes with recursion! All cards with Rebound, like Fantastic Elasticity, create a lot of value in this deck. In this case, you'll pay 3 mana and return a permanent, instant, or sorcery in your graveyard to your hand. Then, you'll cast a copy of this spell at the beginning of your next turn.As for Power Pack, it also lets you cast the instant or sorcery you exiled with it at the beginning of your next turn.Cards We AddedIn this list, Lier, Disciple of the Drowned plays two roles: it protects your spells from counters (and also everybody's spells) and gives Flashback to the instants and sorceries in your graveyard.Cards We RemovedIronically, the card we removed to add Lier has one of the best abilities for a deck like this: Into the Time Vortex. However, even with Rebound, this spell relies a lot on what you get from Cascade. By itself, it doesn't do anything besides... Cascade.Ramp and Creating ManaThis is a four-color precon, but the mana base is actually quite generous for a deck like this.Still, we did add triomes, namely Jetmir's Garden, Ketria Triome, Raugrin Triome, and Spara's Headquarters, as well as Reliquary Tower. We removed a basic land of each type and Terramorphic Expanse to add them to the deck.As you can see above, this deck came with some great ramp. But we can make it better!Cards We AddedJust like Three Visits, Nature's Lore will put your nonbasic Forests directly into the battlefield from your deck.Meanwhile, Enduring Vitality and Springleaf Parade will make your tokens create mana, so you'll have another reason to keep them in play.Cards We RemovedCard DrawThe original list also came with some great card draw. One card that stands out among the ones above is First Family, an instant that draws cards and gives you life according to the colors you have in play and cast that turn.Another Mister Fantastic also sees play in this list. Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards is a great way to draw cards with your commander because all you have to do to use him is create one or more tokens.Cards We AddedWe added some of the most consistent card draw options to this list. This deck doesn't center around Defenders, but we added Arcades, the Strategist so that your Walls can attack and draw some cards when they enter play.Idol of Oblivion is a classic in any deck that creates tokens.Improvisation Capstone is a bit costly, but it is definitely worth everything you put into it.Thanks to Paradigm, you'll be able to play copies of it at the beginning of your first main phases. You'll also exile the top cards in your deck, as long as they cost 4 mana or more, and then cast them for free.Cards We RemovedFinal Upgraded ListHere is the upgraded list:Alternative List: Human TorchTo play Human Torch in the command zone, we decided to lean on Rebound spells with generous buffs and even evasion.Another incredible card in this version is Taigam, Ojutai Master, which gives Rebound to instants and sorceries, and Starfall Invocation, a board wipe that features the Gift a Card mechanic. You can use it to return a creature from the graveyard into play.To pick up the pace and deal even more commander damage, you'll have Aggravated Assault and Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar. Here is the final version:Final WordsThis Fantastic Four precon is a very fun option, and the many commander options in it make it unique among the recently released precons. With it, no match is the same! But it is not very beginner friendly, as it involves many different mechanics and abilities that trigger at different times. If you're a beginner and still want to try it out, read each card carefully. If you're an experienced player looking for something new, have fun with this wonderful, chaotic mess! What do you think?
