Introduction
“The most terrifying thing a dragon can be is well-read.”
- Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Secret Lair version
If you're not afraid to face Miirym in Commander nights, then you haven't played against this commander. Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm is a powerful Temur creature and as scary as The Ur-Dragon lists. She will also fill your board with Dragon copies.
In this article, we'll show you two lists with this commander. The first one is more interactive, so it plays more burn and clones. The second plays cheaper Dragons that you probably already have in your collection but don't use all that much.
For starters, let's see why this commander is known as the "well-read Dragon"!
Commander: Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm
In life, Miirym was a silver Dragon that loved nature. While looking for treasures, she invaded and destroyed the Candlekeep library. This made a lot of people angry, including a powerful archmage who used their magic to imprison her and force her to serve this fortress-library for twenty years.
Unfortunately, this archmage died before they could free her from her sentence, and no other mage has been able to undo this powerful spell ever since. Miirym ended up protecting the fortress until her last days and kept doing it even after she died.
As lonely as ever, now Miirym prefers to talk to adventurers and hear their stories than fight them.

In MTG, Miirym creates nonlegendary copies of your Dragons. She also has ward 2 and flying.
Dragons are quite impactful, so imagine having two of each of them on your board?
Terror of the Peaks, Balefire Dragon, and Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient are some of the (scary) examples that you can play with this commander.
Main List
The sweet Miirym walks with a very scary crowd. Our main list is the following:
This deck plays a bit of everything that is useful and fun with this commander: spells to create clones, burn cards, creatures that create treasures, and, well, lots of Dragons.
Copies
Miirym's ability, which copies Dragons, will already make your opponents quite mad. Now imagine having two, three, or even four of these creatures?

Sakashima of a Thousand Faces and Spark Double are essential in any deck that interacts with copies of creatures. They are excellent ways to copy our commander, that is, create nonlegendary copies of her.

Sarkhan, Soul Aflame is not a Dragon, but it is in this list because it discounts the cost of Dragon spells and becomes a copy of them when they enter play.

Like every list, this one plays a few very relevant creatures, and Astral Dragon is one of them. Its effect triggers when it enters play: when it does, it creates two 3/3 Dragon tokens that then become copies of a noncreature permanent in play.
Considering the cards in this deck, you should use it to copy permanents like Kindred Discovery, Panharmonicon, Urza's Incubator, and The Great Henge. Otherwise, you can copy problematic permanents that your opponents put in play.
Burn
Exploring Dragons that interact with burn is quite fun. We got a few of the best of them for this list:

The fearsome Balefire Dragon can clear the opponent's board when it deals damage to that player. As for Twinflame Tyrant, it will double any damage we deal instantly.
As we said above, this deck centers around taking advantage of our main Dragon and its many copies. To do that, Terror of the Peaks, Scourge of Valkas, and Dragon Tempest are essential.
With any of these three cards, you can end the game solely through burn when you put Astral Dragon in play.
Playing Creatures
Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm only works when nontoken Dragons enter play, so blinks like Conjurer's Closet and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling are useful in this list. Spells that let you put creatures directly in play are also useful.

When we returned to Tarkir, we found new friends for Miirym, like Dracogenesis, Broodcaller Scourge, and the great Ureni of the Unwritten. Dracogenesis lets us cast Dragons for free. Broodcaller Scourge lets us put in play the permanents we have in hand. And the great Ureni lets us look for Dragons among the top 8 cards in our deck and put them in play.
Card Draw
Obviously, blue cards stand out when the matter is card draw. This deck plays:

The Great Henge stands out, as it draws cards, gives you life, and even buffs your Dragons.
As for Temur Ascendancy, it also stands out because it interacts with the tokens you create as long as they have 4 power or more.
Jeska's Will is a great spell for any Commander deck, as it exiles cards from the top of your deck to draw cards and also creates red mana for each card in a target opponent's hand.
Alternative List
Many incredible Dragons are quite expensive, mana-wise, like Ureni of the Unwritten. But, in a Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck, even the smaller Dragons do a lot on your board.

The small Slumbering Dragon grows as the opponents attack you, so they'll have to think twice before doing that. As for Korlessa, Scale Singer, it helps us cast Dragons. We'll also be able to manage the top cards in our decks with it.

This deck doesn't center around Dinosaurs, but Life Finds a Way has a place. After all, many of the other creatures in this list have 4 power or more, and when they enter play, you'll have more tokens with populate.
In turn, Bower Passage is evasion for your Dragons. It prevents enemy creatures that have flying from blocking them.

As usual, this list plays Invasion of Tarkir, which will burn the opponent's life points whenever your Dragons attack.
Final Words
Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm does exactly what it is supposed to.
This commander doesn't need a lot to set up truly explosive turns and expand your board very efficiently by just being there. After a few games, your opponents will certainly start saving their removals to prevent it from staying in play.
Nonetheless, they won't be too efficient. Even if this commander isn't in play, the other Dragons in this list are already strong enough to carry you to victory.
